Investigate, could I buy it, or is it just not available??- Chris

Muriel doodled that the Eastons farmed at Todrig; actually Todrig was sold in 1622 to Thomas Scott, younger brother of Walter Scott, the 2nd laird of Whitslade. Then for more than a century it belonged to this line of Scotts of Todrig. But sold off by Thomas Scott in 1746, and George Pott was the owner on Ainslie's 1773 map.

Below an email received by Nigel in November 2019

My cousin Scott Crosby  passed me your e-mail of 23rd October while I was on holiday in Cyprus. Following on my return I have looked at the family history information I have and hope the following information may be of some assistance in your search.
A great great grandfather on my mother's side was a James Scott who was described as a mason and later as a master builder. He lived in the Hawick area and would have been born probably round about 1815. In July 1841 I have a note from the Parish Registers of the Parish of Wilton of the reading of Banns between him and a Margaret Easton of Overhall in that Parish. I presume Overhall is a farm. Unfortunately I have no record of their actual marriage which presumably was later in 1841. I also have a note from that Register of the birth of Margaret Easton on 6th April 1817 as the "second lawful child of Adam Easton, Hind, (a married skilled farm worker occupying a farm cottage)  Overhall & Janet Michie, his wife". The first child was Isabella Easton, born on 21st May, 1815, the third child was Andrew Easton ,  born on 26th April, 1819 and the fourth child was William Easton, born on 11th June, 1821. Margaret Easton or Scott died at Wilton Dean, Wilton on 16th February, 1902 aged 84 years and her father is described on the death certificate as a farmer.
Unfortunately I do not have any further relevant information but hopefully the above link will be enough to give you a line of enquiry for your own further researches. Most of my information has been found in the Scotlands People website.
I hope the above is of some help. If you are in touch with my cousin Scott, please pass on my very best wishes to him and his family.
Yours sincerely,
Crosby Chisholm.
