So why is she now recognised as Morrison?? I suspect it was because of her mother's death when she was not quite 2: her grandparents might have forced the father to own her? Unfortunately, despite hours of searching, I have been unable to pinpoint him

This implies that her father, John Morrison, is still alive in 1875 . Also first raised the possibility that he had never married Margaret Smith
