Jane Cooper ~1820-1859
~1820 Jane Cooper was maybe baptised to Anne Cooper & William Holdsworth/ Cooper , on 4/3/1821 in Felkirk, Yorkshire, which is just 1 m N of Shafton, which is her birthplace in 1851C- IGI- odd that father on that record is given as William Holdsworth and not Cooper: is this a transcription error or was she illegitimate but the father was named on her baptism: would need to see the church record to resolve this! A George Cooper was baptised to just Anne Cooper, no father given, in Felkirk in 1823- IGI . NOT SURE about this - does not explain the Barker name- see below. Could Barker come from Anne Cooper's mother?? , ie is there an Anne Cooper born 1796 -1806 who has a mother Barker??Anne Cooper baptised Shafton 1801 to Joseph & Elizabeth Cooper - any marriage?? Elizabeth Barker marries Thomas Cooper in 1795 Helmsley -IGI - but Helmsley >50 miles from Shafton!!!

1843.Jane Cooper, 24, marries James Stuart 25, on 31/12/1843 in the parish church of Darfield.. Address of both Ardsley. His father James Stuart, labourer, hers William Cooper, labourer. Both seemed to sign. Ann Cooper & Matthew Belk were witnesses. Ann could be her mother. Ardsley only 1m W of Darfield, near Barnsley
1851C. Jane Stuart, 31. Yet to find on FMP . Very burnt/water stained on Ancestry. James is a journeyman dyer, b. Barnsley, Jane b. Shafton, Elizabeth B. Ardsley, last 2 born Barnsley . Living Old Mill, Barnsley .Ardsley just 2 m E of Barnsley . Shafton ~5m NE of Barnsley

James & Jane had children Elizabeth 1846, George Barker 1849, William Barker1851, Charlotte Barker 1853, Emma 1856 and Frederick 1858
1859 Jane Stewart dies Barnsley Dec 1859 - seems to be the only possibility
Jane's children all have the middle name of Barker: does this come her mother?- not if her mother was Anne Cooper!! Have proved it does not come from their Paternal grandmother
But there is- IGI & FMP- a Charlotte Barker marriage to William Cooper in 1812, Wadworth, Yorkshire. Wadworth ~ 20 m SE of Shafton! or ~12 m SE of Darfield. But no baptism of a Jane to this couple Jane Stuart does call a child Charlotte in 1853. At least 2 couples of William & Charlotte Cooper have children both in Barnsley and Rawmarsh - 10 m S of Darfield - 1812-1830
Also a David Cooper married Edith Barker 22/5/1813, but far away in Whitby Yorkshire And they had Hannah Barker Cooper baptised to them on 12/7/1813 - IGI, no other baptisms found. Cannot find David, Edith nor Hannah in 1841C. . A William & Alice Cooper with a Jane 25 living in Whitby in 1841C!!
