Mary Thursfield 1764-1854

No baptism found in Audlem or Cheshire - FMP/IGI . But, Brown Ancestry Family Tree has her baptised 17/5/1764 in Audlem, but no parents given!

1787. Mary Thursfield married John Hill, butcher, widowed, 27/2/1787, in Audlem, both ages given as >21 - FMP, & on Ancestry- Select Cheshire Bishops Transcripts . Marriage photo to capture .

John Hill had first married Mary Hall in 1779,by license, both of the parish of Audlem, Robert Hill a witness. Seem to have been children by this marriage - Robert & Richard mentioned in his 1819 Will . So John must have been born 1761 at the latest

I have found the following baptisms- in table below- mostly on FMP. Mary lives until 1854. So, from these it might appear that William Hill 1803 came from a different family. But he is definitely the brother of John 1790, and from John's 1875 Will, he had siblings Mary, Joseph- dead by 1875,[ could be 1843/1849 or 1853] ,Thomas ~1801 & Samuel. ~1794. William is also definitely the brother of Thomas 1800 - this stated in Thomas' 1881 Will .

Thus, the Sarah on the Cheshire Baptism transcript for William 1803 is either a mistranscription from the original parish record OR the clergyman wrote her name down incorrectly OR Mary sometimes called herself Sarah OR John had a child with a Sarah while he was married to Mary, but this William was still brought up as his son with his other children!!. So, I am saying the mother of William was a MARY! And such a child is confirmed in John's 1819 Will

John Hill, butcher, died 1819. His will, signed 1817/8, gives his wife as Mary, has his sons James & John as executors , but children John James, James, Samuel, Joseph, Thomas, William & Mary are also mentioned - the estate seemingly being divided up between them .Also a son Robert by a former wife . He mentions a Richard Hill, grandson, son of his late son Richard Hill . He left <£1000. View his Will
