According to Jnhwhitaker family tree Ancestry, he was born to Gideon Coope 1775-1843 & Martha Siddon 1775-1814, one of 4 children. Think John is descended from Betty Ogden Coop 1804

Gideon Coope 1775 was born to Henry Coope 1745-1826 & Jane Mather 1746 -1801Henry Coope 1745 was born to Henry Coope 1707 Radcliffe-1795

1821. Gideon Coope, joiner, marries Sally Ashworth, with the consent of the parties, 20/9/1821 in Prestwich with Oldham . This certainly he- his son, George, called a son born in 1856, Booth Ashworth Coope . This was/is all a bit confusing, as his father, widower, marries a Sarah Hope in 1815, and she gets called Sally in the 1841C: whilst he marries a Sally who gets called Sarah in the 1841C!! - but the marriages are certainly as I have them! Gideon could write, his wife not.
