Why are these 2 Bowman girls living here- now proved that they were orphaned in 1847 - and where has the name Mycock come from??
Have investigated this aunt, Mary Maxwell, in 1841C, and she was living Manchester, ind, by herself, so obviously already widowed. More detective work led me to this Mycock connection
1853. Her sister Alice Bowman died - obituary says she was the 6th - I only know of 4!- daughter of the late Mr Henry Bowman Mycock of London . Interestingly she is just called plain Alice Bowman in this notice- Bmd has her death as Alice Bowman Mycock

1861C. Clara Bowman, 21, nurse, b. Mddx, is still living with this aunt, Mary Maxwell, at 16 Broughton Street Manchester

Think Clara Bowman is niece, not nurse, to Mary Maxwell! So who has invented Mycock as her surname??? Mary Maxwell is in the 1871C, 78!, b. Harlington, annuitant, with 2 servants : she dies 1872 Manchester, leeaving effects of £300, probate to Clara Bowman Styler

I have found a Mary Mycock baptised 12/12/1792 in Hartington to Joseph & Hannah Mycock- think she probably became this Mary Maxwell by marriage. Explained the name but not how she was related to Henry Bowman until I found that a Henry Mycock was also baptised to these parents in 1795. They were brother & sister . Now the only mystery is why he abandoned the Mycock name when he moved to London?? And, EUREKA!, Joseph Mycock married Hannah Bowman on 4/6/1787 Earl Sterndale Derby & this is why her father chose to be known as Henry Bowman once he decided to shake off the Mycock name!!!
1865. Once again calling herself Clara Bowman Mycock , plain Clara Bowman married Thomas Styler , cashier, on 26/4/1865 in St Mary, St Denys and St George, Manchester. He aged 39, she 25. His father Valentine Styler, gardener, hers Henry Bowman Mycock, farmer. His address 18 Chatham St Red Bank, hers 16 Broughton St Cheetham - Ancestry.
She is undoubtedly just plain Clara Bowman as the address given was the same as where she was living in 1861. Her father Henry Bowman Mycock! did come from a family of farmers but he was a mere skin dyer in Shoreditch from 1840 & probably much earlier -1847

They had the following children: Frank Sydney Styler 1867-1949, Harold M Styler 1869, John Henry Styler 1870-1872 , Herbert Milton Styler 1873, Leonard Percy Styler 1875, Thomas Alfred Styler 1877 , Cecil T Styler 1882
