Cyril Sydney Jones , aged 22, motor mechanic, married Betty Downing , 24!!, actually 28 , on 8/11/1920 at the R.C. St Francis of Sale & Gertrude, Larkham ,Lambeth . His father Sydney Jones, builder, deceased, hers Ralph Downing, army officer( this almost certainly fiction!), deceased. His address 181 South Lambert Rd, hers 21 Helix Gardens, Brixton Hill.. Witnesses Jeanne Mitchell, his ´remarried´ mother, and Mabel Hucknale.

1921. Cyril Ford Jones was born 5/4/1921 in Lambeth to Cyril Sydney Jones and Ladye Bettie Downing- 5 months after they married. Tim Jones has this b.c.- would give his parents' address and his father's occupation.

The marriage did not last long and it is thought there was a divorce: but it was Catholic marriage. Thus I assume Cyril Ford Jones wasbrought upby her and her sister

1939. Betty Jones, cinema cashier, is living with her widowed sister, Ione Millward, at 8 Bosley Way, Christchurch . Do not know why she, or the enumerator, has entered her as widowed!! _ her ex husband was still alive in Australia Daphne remembers her grandmother and Ione,( and cecilia??) as living at Priory House, Christchurch : this would seem an impressive building - did they live in a flat in it??. Betty was 6 foot tall, a brilliant pianist and a sad person: Did she suffer from macullar degeneration in later years, being classified as blind?? Daphne loved her but was told not to ask her any questions by her Aunt Ione

1975. Her brother, Ralph Downing, died Fleetwood,Lancs, Sep 1975. No probate found, but this maybe due t Ancestry Probate records ending before 1975!!

1981., Her sister, Cecil Downing, gender Unknown!, died 20/3/1981, of 86 Priory Ct, Wick Lane, Christchurch. She left probate of 1520 pounds - Bournemouth Mar 1981
