Charles Longhurst

~ 1810. Charles Longhurst was born to parents unknown in Wisborough Green/Rudgwick, Sussex - the 2 about 7-8 miles apart! Several of his children are baptised Wisborough Green! So their baptism records would be great to search! There is a Peter Longhurst baptised Wis. Green 14/4/1811 to John Longhurst & Amy Damon, who married in Rudgwick 26/7/1808: they must be candidates for his parents!, but Charles does not use either of these names, nor any "sibling "name, for his children This couple also had baptised there: Jane 1816, Rhoda 1818, William 1820, Mary 1822, Sarah 1825, David 1828, & George 1831 - IGI, these baptisms only appeared when I searched for deaths!! There is a baptism of Charles Longhurst 1818 Rudgwick , but this surely too late , to a William & Arenia - FS : these could only be his parents if he were at least 6 when he was baptised! And he does not call a son William!

1841C has a John Longhurst ,60, ag lab, in Wisborough Green- so John born ~1780. His wife Amy seemingly dead

1832-1839. Baptisms of Harriett 1832, Charles 1834 & James 1836 in Wisborough Green, Sussex to Charles & Lucy - FS . Did not find Henry 1839

A Keziah Longhurst is born 1840 Sep Dartford and died 1841 Sep Dartford- she should be in the 1841C . But even this ruse fails to find Keziah or them in FMP or on Ancestry!!. Have searched long and hard for Kezia /& Lucy . Keziah's b.c. might maybe confirm Charles & Lucy being in Kent then- but no reason to be sure she is his child

1841C. Cannot find him on Ancestry or FMP. Maybe in Bromley Dartford/ Folkestone. But his 4 children are in the Wisborough Green Workhouse: Harriot 9, Charles 7, James 5 & Henry 3 . The Workhouse has ~ 75 children in it but less than 5 adults. Would be interesting to examine their Admissions Book.

Cannot find bmd registrations for Joseph, Ann nor Hannah around Folkestone , nor of Abel anywhere! Nor of Henry Brighton 1839. Suggests a family living at the margins of society
