David Lyon ~1750 -
Farmer, of Elfhill, Fetteresso - from his daughter's 1855 d.c
1754. A David Lyon was born Glenbervie to Alexander Lyon in 1854
1773. David Lyon married Ann Dickson on 12/6/1773 Glenbervie- SP not purchased Glenbervie ~ 13 k SSW of Stonehaven . Also on FS
1778. Margaret Lyon was born to David Lyon & Ann Dickson on 11/10/1778 Fetteresso - SP purchased : states David was of Elfhill. Other likely children were: Elspet 1781 & Mary 1786, both in Fetteresso ( Another David Lyon having children in Dunnotar) - FS
No burial record for him on SP 1786-1850 . There are 2 possibilities for his wife: aged 77 in 1835 Aberdeen,( thus born ~1758)or, aged 84 in 1831, New Machar( thus born ~ 1747- this more likely)
So no more I can find out about him or his wife ! . Or maybe he was in fact a John Lyon!!- the only, m.c. I have found for his daughter, 1809, names a John Lyon as her father!
Elspet Lyon appears to have married John Thomson { I have been unable to find a m.c. though, so just taking this from A:Carol Ancestry tree- 180000 people! } , and they had a son Robert William Thomson, 1822 -who designed the fountain pen in 1849. Thus our pirate, James Dixon, and Robert William Thomson were 1st cousins. The Gait family have an heirloom fountain pen from him
