Margaret Lyon 1778 - 1855
No ancestry tree that helps
Born Fetteresso
1778. Margaret Lyon was born to David Lyon , farmer, & Ann Dickson on 11/10/1778 Fetteresso - SP purchased. Just says David Lyon was of Elfhill! . These parents are recorded on her detailed 1855 d.c.
~1800-1811. She would have married William Dixon . I cannot find a marriage around Fetteresso, only the 1809 one below, and this gives her father as a John Lyon
In 1809. A Margaret Lyon married William Dixon, wright, she the daughter of John Lyon, servant , on 13/4/1809 Canongate, Edinburgh - SP, image purchased, but actually transcribed as William DiRon!

This surely a different marriage, as the father here stated as John Lyon
Her 1st child , David, born before 1812,
1812. William Dickson was born to William & Margaret on 17/3/1812 Fetteresso- SP not purchased : might give profession for his father, might not! & we know he was a seaman anyway
1815. James Dixon/Dickson was born on 9/4/1815 Stonehaven to William & Margaret :1 of 4 children: only he & brother William survived infancy. Cannot find his birth, nor that of his siblings David ~1810 or Margaret ~ 1817 on SP - ODD. But this 1815 date given on James' naval records
Margaret had a sister Elspet Lyon, 1781, who appears to have married John Thomson { I have been unable to find a m.c. though, so just taking this from A:Carol Ancestry tree- 180000 people! } , and they had a son Robert William Thomson, 1822 -who designed the fountain pen and the pneumatic tyre, among other things . Thus our pirate, James Dixon, and Robert William Thomson were 1st cousins. The Gait family have an heirloom fountain pen from him
1841C. 2 Options but possibly also a 3rd - not yet found- in Fetteresso-FMP/ Ancestry . Also only these 2 possible options in Kincardineshire on SP
Marg Dickson, 58, Ind., is living alone Auchenblac/ue, Fordoun, Kincardineshire Fourdon SW of Fetteresso, ~6 k from Glenbervie, where her parents had married in 1773. She is not living with son William - I searched for him in 1841C- & he could be an ag. labourer, aged 26, living Carndale, Cluny- this ~ 30 k W of Aberdeen, so fairly plausible . So think this could be she - would be good to confirm her occupation- seemingly just "Ind".
Or Margaret Dickson, 72, is living Whitehill Fordoun with a Will Dickson, 32, maybe this she and her eldest child William . Her age here somewhat wrong . So this also probably not she

She had 4 children: David, died infancy; William 43; James 41 & Margaret died in infancy Her parents were David Lyon, farmer, & Ann Dickson. She had been in Stonehaven 45 years- thus since ~ 1810: yet she was born there( Fetteresso/Stonehaven) ??. She died of paralysis, 3 weeks, and her son, William, was the informant . She was buried in the Church Yard of Fetteresso - SP purchased . Elfhill was a conspicuous hill in Fetteresso parish
