Edward Hansford, maybe 1772, & Elizabeth Denison
Joiner . Born, lived and died around Powerstock, Dorset
1772. An Edward Hansford was baptised to Richard & Elizabeth Hansford on 23/2/1772 Poorstock, Dorset- FS. Quite a common name in Dorset at this time

Someone has gone through the local church registers for all these dates Need to look up whose tree this was all on
1799. Edward Hansford married Elizabeth Denison on 19/6/1799 in Powerstock with West Milton, Dorset.
Edward & Elizabeth had the following children baptised in Powerstock/Poorstock/West Milton- all very close by, ~8 k NE of Bridport :
Betty Hansford & Hariot Hansford 1803, Maria Hansford & Edward Smith Hansford 3/4/1808 & Susannah Hansford 1816- FS. I think Jacob Hansford ~1809 was also born from this marriage, but no baptism exists then: there is on 12/3/1824i n Powerstock with West Milton . Also seems to have been a Sarah Hansford 1809 and a William Hansford 1811-1893, also a cabinet maker & seemingly the driving force behind Hansford Brothers, established in 1830: he died George Street, Ryde, I of W in 1893 leaving £6200, his sons also being upholsterers
Hariot Hansford 1803 married in St Helier Jersey. George Luce of St Helier, Jersey, and Harriet Hansford of West Milton, Dorset. This was in St Helier Church on 29th January 1825
Then thereb is an entry in the parish records of St Helier for a Baptism of Herriot! Elizabeth, daughter of George Luce and Herriot! his wife. on 28th May 1826. The god-parents were Jacob Hansford and Maria Hansford
Familysearch brings up a group christening of Susanna, Sarah & William Hansford on 12th May 1824 and a Jacob Hansford is mentioned as christened 12th March 1824. Any ideas?!-Would need to search the Dorset registers to see if any dates of births are given
Both Edward & Elizabeth would seem to die before the 1841C - there is an Edward Hansford , b.1762-1766, living in Powerstock in 1841C, but he is a farmer, would appear to be too old, seems to have a wife Frances & son William, and there is a baptism for him there in 1764!
Children of Edward Hansford.
William Hansford 1811-1893
A very successful businessman. Seemingly set up Hansford Bros in 1828 in the Channel Islands, likely Jersey, where his sister, Harriet, married in 1825. Then set up business in Ryde, originally in George Street, and then in Cross Street. I feel he likely sidelined his brother Jacob, after Jacob went bankrupt in 1847,or maybe he bought him out, taking over his premises in Mill Street, Ventnor. Maybe he employed Jacob as a travelling salesman after this. He retired in 1887, Jubilee Year leaving £ 5000 in 1893 and passing on a business to his sons, Alfred Young Hansford & Joseph Hansford, that was still going in 1960
