And yet another James Phillis was born 1832 in Somerset

1841C.James Phillis, 16, baker, was living in Lower Lane , Shepton Mallett with his mother, Mary, 54, knitter. His father John must have died pre July 1837

Cannot find Mary in 1851C FMP or Ancestry- wide search!

And 3 Mary Phillis die 1941-1851 in Shepton Mallet, in 1843, 1845 and 1849

Nothing found as James Philli* and "baker" in Ancestry in either census. Nothing in FMP . Could he have been in the army, and maybe married overseas ?

James Phillis "married" Elizabeth Welland , cannot find on BMD Have searched for marriage of Elizabeth *elland 1860-1871. So maybe a common law marriage or that he might have been in the army and that they married abroad
